The Peacock Bass

There are three main species:
Butterfly peacock bass
Cichla ocellaris
Royal or black striped peacock bass
Cichla intermedia
Speckled peacock bass
Cichla temensis


Peacock bass on Rio Uatama

The speckled peacock bass is most common in the amazon. The world record of 12.3kg-27pd was caught in the Rio Negro.

Equipment:

We use four 18ft - 5.5m aluminum flat boats with a 40 or 15hp Yamaha outboards for exploration of small rivers (igarapes) for peacock bass fishing. Each flat boat is equipped with back rest seats for two anglers and is driven by a professional local guide, expert in the local flora and fauna and most important, where the fish are!
